Practice areas
Jolien Clemens is specialised in privacy and data protection law. She assists organisations in their compliance with European and Belgian data protection legislation (GDPR, e-Privacy, etc.), such as performing compliance audits, drawing up privacy and cookie policies and data processing agreements, performing data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), advising on international transfers of personal data, giving trainings, and conducting proceedings before courts and supervisory authorities.
She also advises on compliance with e-business legislation, and drafts agreements regarding the development, implementation and use of software and cloud services.
She is also specialised in intellectual property law. She assists companies in the field of copyright law, trademark law, patent law, design rights, database rights, trade secrets and domain names.
In addition, Jolien is involved in a number of EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects in the fields of data protection and technology. In the context of these projects, she provides both legal and ethical advice as well as broader support to Timelex’s partners in these projects.
Professional admissions
Jolien has been a member of the Dutch-speaking Bar Association at the Brussels Bar since January 2022.
Prior professional experience
Before joining Timelex, Jolien worked at the Belgian Data Protection Authority, where she gained experience in the various areas of data protection law.
