Practice areas

Kasia Kostka is specialised in technology, data protection and intellectual property law. She utilises her experience working in the European institutions to help clients bridge the gap between law and innovation. 

Kasia has both academic and professional background in privacy and data protection law. She advises organisations on European and global privacy issues, including assistance with data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), GDPR and ePrivacy compliance as well as training on legal issues related to data privacy and management. Kasia is a qualified implementer of the Europrivacy certification scheme.

She further combines her legal and economic expertise in the area of emerging technologies. Kasia advises on achieving compliance with legal and ethical requirements for trustworthy artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as assists clients with their inquiries related to robotics and big data.

Her expertise also includes intellectual property law, where she supports companies in the fields of copyright law, trademark law, patent law, design rights, database rights, trade secrets and domain names.

In addition, Kasia is involved in research and innovation projects funded by the European Commission. She is a legal and ethics advisor to Timelex’ research partners in these projects and applies her expertise in the areas of technology, artificial intelligence, e-health and data protection. 

Prior professional experience

Prior to joining Timelex in May 2023, Kasia was a Bluebook Trainee at the European Commission, DG for Health and Food Safety (SANTE), where she worked on the health and food sustainability files. 

She also worked at the European Centre for Certification and Privacy, an entity responsible for the Europrivacy certification scheme.
