​​​​​The Mobile Cross-Border Government Services for Europe (mGov4EU) project aims to lift cross-border services supported by the Single Digital Gateway Regulation (SDGR) and by the eIDAS Regulation to new levels, specifically by readying them for the mobile-device use we nowadays naturally expect.  mGov4EU will develop an open ecosystem for secure mobile government services to be used across Europe and beyond. The project will leverage security features imbedded in mobile devices to meet both the security needs and data-protection expectations one has into public services and the usability challenges that arise when accessing complex services using constrained mobile devices. 

To that end mGov4EU will combine and enhance the existing eIDAS Layer (for electronic identification and electronic signatures) and SDGR Layer (for cross border once-only services) with sufficiently generic modules for mobile devices to be re-used in the emerging and thus still heterogeneous European mobile-government landscape. In this way, mGov4EU will create a trustworthy federation of collaborative platforms, which facilitates the co-delivery, reuse, and trustworthy provision of accessible and easy-to use public services, implementing the once-only, digital-by-default and mobile-first principles in a user centric and user friendly manner.

Our role

Timelex is the leading partner for all legal concerns in mGov4EU. As such, Timelex monitors any issues arising from regulations and other legal requirements, especially GDPR and eIDAS, and ensures that legal and ethical requirements are introduced and respected in the system architecture and design choices. Further, Timelex is responsible for the ethics and gender requirements within the project, especially towards the pilots.
