The KOBAN Project, funded under the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation program, focuses on advancing community policing (CP) practices across Europe. The KOBAN project emphasizes a localized, citizen-centered approach to CP. It aims to equip law enforcement agencies (LEAs) with the necessary knowledge, skills, and technologies for proactive, reactive, and collaborative policing.
KOBAN employs a Capability-Driven Approach (CDA), previously successful in sectors like defense and space, to identify future needs and solutions for CP. The project also supports the development of customizable tools, such as the KOBAN App Factory, which allows citizens and police to co-create mobile applications to foster engagement and address specific community needs.
By providing an adaptable, evidence-based framework, KOBAN seeks to tailor policing methods to diverse local contexts, enhancing trust and effectiveness in law enforcement practices across Europe.
As a legal partner, Timelex will be assisting the project partners with ongoing ethics and legal advice to mitigate risks related to ethical and legal challenges. We will ensure that all outputs, adhere to the legal frameworks, hereby building trust and legitimacy.
